According to the latest statements by the World Health Organization (WHO), a new covid strain B.1.1.7 has been found in 22 European countries.

The WHO Regional Office for Europe made this information available to the public at a briefing. The head of the regional office, Hans Kluge, said that the spread of the new strain of the virus is faster and affects more people of any age.

At the same time, Kluge is confident that the new strain of coronavirus, which was first recorded in the UK, is more dangerous and infectious. However, he claims that scientists are studying a new strain of the virus. Nowadays, they cannot confirm that this type of virus provokes more severe forms of the disease COVID-19.

However, the head of the WHO Regional Office for Europe urges people to be more careful about safety rules, because the new strain is spreading much faster. Therefore, the health care systems of any country, even economically developed countries, will not be able to withstand such a burden. Therefore, there is a risk that many people will not be able to get the help they need.

A new strain of coronavirus was discovered in the UK in September. By mid-December, most cases of London infections were already associated with this variant of the virus. The new strain of the virus forced the city authorities to impose severe restrictions, which caused outrage among city residents. After the UK announced a new epidemic, most European countries introduced increased security measures for those arriving from the UK. Also, some countries have suspended passenger flights with this country.

Unfortunately, the city’s mayor was forced to declare an emergency in the capital to reduce human contact and prevent the spread of the virus. London hospitals are overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients, and a new wave of morbidity could lead to the collapse of hospitals.

Also, the London mayor said the number of patients who need to be connected to ventilators increased by 42%.

There are over 7,000 COVID-19 patients in London hospitals to date. This figure shows that the prevalence of COVID-19 has increased significantly compared to the first wave of COVID-19 incidence by 35%.

At the same time, the London Ambulance Service receives up to 8,000 calls for suspected morbidity for COVID-19 every day. This is a huge burden on ambulance doctors, which leads to depletion of their physical and emotional strength.

UK Health Minister Matt Hancock said that the country’s authorities are doing everything possible to stop the increase in the incidence in the country. Therefore, the new coronavirus vaccine, which was developed by the American company Moderna, received the necessary permission for use. The UK already has two approved coronavirus vaccines (Pfizer / BioNTech and Oxford University and AstraZeneca vaccine). The authorities hope that the advent of an additional vaccine will help to vaccinate the population faster and more efficiently. At the same time, all companies declare that their vaccine is effective for treating the new coronavirus strain. This information requires some confirmation, which companies will be able to provide in the coming days.
