Coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the world. More than half of Americans cannot imagine their morning without a cup of aromatic coffee. Most office workers start their day with coffee. Drinking 3-4 cups of coffee daily, we don’t notice how we begin to depend on caffeine.

Some health experts claim that caffeine is a light drug that affects the nervous system. It forces our body to produce more energy, increases activity, and affects mindfulness. Its easy stimulation of the nervous system makes people return to this drink every time they feel a breakdown in strength and energy.

Caffeine is in many other products, but coffee remains the leader among them. Recently, teenagers like drink energy drinks that stimulate their nervous system and give mild euphoria. Therefore, these drinks are prohibited for sale to adolescents in many countries of the world. Also, you can find caffeine in tea, medicine, alcohol. Some scientists argue that you should exclude caffeine from your diet, but many studies have shown that moderate consumption of coffee for an adult does not harm. They claim that three cups of coffee at 8 ounces per day is the norm. But, they warn that drinking coffee above the norm can be harmful to your health. Symptoms such as insomnia, high blood pressure, tremors are signals that you have an excess of caffeine and your nervous system is overexcited.

Caffeine withdrawal.

Scientists from American University, Washington, have studied the reaction of the human body to the refusal of caffeine. They conducted an experiment in which adults, who drank coffee 3-4 cups a day, refused coffee-containing products at all for some time. During the study, it turned out that as a result of the rejection of caffein, the participants in the experiment had such symptoms as fatigue, headache, nausea, and loss of attention. These symptoms appeared the next day without caffeine. The more a participant drank coffee before, the more severe his symptoms were.

Scientists do not urge to exclude caffeine, but simply find their comfortable dose that will not provoke an over-excitation of the nervous system. They also say that the more caffeine you consume, the faster your body will get used to its effects and over time you will stop receiving an invigorating effect. To prevent this, drink coffee 1-2 times a day.

Signs of caffeine addiction.

You can independently find out if you have a dependence on caffeine. Scientists have identified several symptoms that indicate dependence:

  • chronic fatigue and insomnia;
  • loss of concentration;
  • unwillingness to give up coffee despite health problems.

Despite the results of many studies on caffeine dependence, the World Organization for Mental Disorders does not recognize caffeine dependence as a mental disorder.

Scientists recommend monitoring the amount of caffeine consumed or low drinking it to a comfortable amount.
