The sports world is suffering from coronavirus no less than other areas of life. The most striking event of 2020 was supposed to take place in Japan, but the pandemic ruined these plans. The Olympic Games are the most awaited event in the sports world, which leaves no one indifferent. People who are not fond of sports are looking forward to the Olympics as a beautiful show that gives great emotions. Therefore, the statement by the Minister of Japan for the Olympic Games Seiko Hashimoto on the possibility of holding the Olympic Games in Japan in 2021 gave hope to the whole world. The International Olympic Committee supports Japan’s intention to host the Olympic Games in Summer 2021 in Japan. Although with the development of a pandemic, the plan may collapse again. Nevertheless, today the International Olympic Committee, the Japanese authorities, and athletes are developing a format for the safe conduct of the Olympics.
According to the Prime Minister of Japan, the country is ready to host the Olympics and make efforts to create a safe environment for both athletes and spectators.
We remind you that the vice-president of the International Olympic Committee John Coates stated earlier that the 2021 Olympics would take place regardless of the development of the COVID-19 pandemic. ”
According to official sources of information, the International Olympic Committee, the Japanese authorities, and health experts have created a working group with their representatives, who are developing measures and ways to ensure the safety of spectators and athletes during the Olympic Games.
To date, the working group has several planned measures:
- an increase in the time spent by athletes outside the Olympic village,
- regular testing of athletes for coronavirus,
- limiting the number of spectators, personnel, and athletes participating in one competition.
The organizers of the Olympic Games do not confirm the information about the reduction of the participating countries. Therefore, it is planned that about 11 thousand athletes from more than 200 countries of the world will take part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021 which should be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021.
Representatives of the International Olympic Committee say the working group will consider various options for hosting the Summer Olympics in Japan in 2021 to prevent the pandemic from worsening and to protect athletes and spectators from contracting COVID-2019.
Representatives of the working group are in no hurry to make official statements because the situation changes every day and affects the development of precautionary measures, and no one can predict how the situation will develop in the summer of 2021.
Therefore, representatives of the working group are not ready to name all the plans, but they assure that the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo will be safe for the health of the athlete and spectators.
